The ripgrep of AI context — a zero-dependency C++23 CLI + MCP server that maps your repo for coding agents
Decide the question shape: orient an agent to a task, find a symbol's callers, assess a change's blast radius, or gate a PR with tests-to-run.
Install the prebuilt binary with the official installer script (it verifies the SHA-256), or build from source with CMake and a C++23 compiler.
Run ripwire wrap --all to detect installed agents, and install the bundled skills so your agent knows when to reach for which verb.
From your repo root, run ripwire . --for="your task" and compare the bundle with what a grep-and-read pass would have cost.
--for and --pack-task return the ranked symbols, doc comments, risk annotations and one-hop callers for a task in a single small bundle.
--callers, --impact and --uses answer who calls a symbol and what a change touches, filtering out comment-only noise that grep returns.
--situ (tests and blast radius for a diff), --pr-context, --test-gate, --edit-check and --quality-delta check that you built what you meant.
--from-trace resolves a trace's frames to definitions instead of grepping every frame name.
--html renders one self-contained HTML map coloured by language, community, complexity, churn or test coverage, with fixed thresholds.
Confidence is printed on answers, guesses are labelled, losses against competitors are published in docs/EVALS.md, and when a whole file is cheaper than the bundle it serves the file and says so.
