The fastest route from the README is the npm package: npm install -g flowise (Node 18+), or run it without installing via npx.
Run npx flowise start and open http://localhost:3000 to reach the visual builder.
Compose a chatflow or agentflow from nodes, test it in the built-in chat, then expose it through the API or an embeddable widget.
Chatflows for retrieval and single agents, agentflows for orchestrated multi-agent work, and templates from the marketplace to start from.

The open-source edition is free to self-host under the licence terms in the repository (the repo carries a custom licence file — check it before commercial use).
Honest answer: GitHub currently marks the FlowiseAI/Flowise repository as archived, and its last push was 2026-08-13. Check the repo state before adopting it for new work.
Against Langflow, its closest rival, Flowise leans further into templates, team workspaces and an agents-first canvas; Langflow is MIT-licensed and under visibly active development. Against Dify, Flowise is lighter to self-host but less of an all-in-one platform.
